The Tánaiste has paid tribute to the Little Blues Heroes project following the visit of a number of children from Tipperary to Leinster House.
The Garda initiative was set up in 2017 and aims to provide support to families of children with serious illnesses.
The Heroes were accompanied by Gardaí from the Clonmel Station and Pearse Street Station in Dublin while the visit was facilitated by local TD Michael Murphy.
Fine Gael leader Simon Harris says the Little Blue Heroes are inspirational.
“I really, really want to praise local Tipperary Gardaí – particularly Community Garda Fiona Gleeson – for the incredible job they did yesterday with my colleague Fine Gael TD Michael Murphy in bringing some Little Blue Heroes from County Tipperary to Dáil Éireann for the day.
“It was an absolute honour and it was the highlight of my day and a day I will remember for so long. To meet the young boys and girls from Tipperary – boys and girls battling serious illness – but who are inspirational people who would lift your spirits.”
The Tánaiste says people in Tipperary should be proud of the work of local Gardaí and the Little Blue Heroes project.
“To bring them to the Dáil, to recognise them as the brilliant people that they are – the inspiring children that they are – along with their parents was really, really, really a great source of pride to everybody involved. And I want to really thank Fiona, I want to thank Deputy Michael Murphy, I want to thank all of the local Gardaí for the work they put into this. It was a really special day yesterday and everyone involved right across Tipperary should be very, very proud.”
