Further delay for Clonmel hospital development.

Despite initial assurances which were given around housing a newly purchased CT scanner in 2014, the HSE has now confirmed that construction will not commence until the third or fourth quarter of this year with a minimum 12-15 month construction period.

The new timeline for the construction of the new 2 storey building was given to South Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath in response to a parliamentary question on the issue.

The HSE say that due to a high level of rock at the site, the tendering process had to be changed, hence the delay.

Deputy McGrath says it's going to be at least two years now before the building is finished, describing it as a disgrace

The independent TD says it's further proof that services in Tipperary are not being prioritised.
