There is further confusion today regarding the opening date for the new Community nursing home in Nenagh.
Tipperary Labour TD Alan Kelly raised the issue in the Dail last week after mixed messages from the Minister and the HSE.
The 50-bed €23m state-of-the-art facility had been intended as a nursing home for residents of St Conlon’s in Nenagh, but was repurposed by the HSE as step-down facility for patients from UHL, due to overcrowding in Limerick.
The HSE’s decision has been at the centre of protests from local groups calling for it to be used for its original intended purpose as a nursing home.
