Members of Thurles Sarsfield – where he coached the senior team- have provided a guard of honour from his home in Clongour to the gates of the Cathedral of the Assumption and have been joined along the route by members of the public – while the cortège was also headed up by Garda outriders as it made its way to the Cathedral of the Assumption where the remains of the Lieutenant Colonel were received by members of the Defence Forces ahead of full military funeral.
The 47 year old – who had served on many overseas duties in several countries in Africa and the Middle East – was home from military policing duty in Brussels when his life was tragically cut short after being struck by a car at Turtulla cross – only a short distance from his home.

Following today's mass members of the Defence Forces will provide a guard of honour for the funeral cortege as its makes it was to Saint Patrick’s Cemetery where they will provide a graveside rifle salute before their colleague is laid to rest.
