A number of key projects for the Lough Derg area have been approved for significant funding.
A total of €665,000 is being allocated to aid the development of amenities around the lake.
The Lough Derg Stimulus Fund is part of a wider €2 million package taking in Tipperary, Clare and Galway.
Among the areas on the Tipperary side of the lake under the funding announced today are Ballina, Castlelough, Dromineer and Portroe.
Tourism Marketing co-ordinator for Lough Derg Maire Collins says linking projects along the lake is a key part of the project.
Another aspect of the project is the Lough Derg Canoe Trail which being coordinated by North Tipp Leader Partnership on behalf of Leader Companies in the area.
Maire Collins says over two years work has gone into this particular venture which will have stop-off points in Terryglass, Kilgarvan Quay, Dromineer, Castlelough and Garrykennedy.
