It follows intense lobbying by County Councillors, officials, and local Oireachtas members to the Transport Minister for more money to repair routes across the county.
Tipperary County Council's funding allocation for 2015 of €16.3 million is down significantly on last year's grant and is not enough to fix all the roads around the Premier County.
Following the general roads allocation, a deputation of County Councillors, along with senior officials in the local authority, travelled to Dublin to meet with the Transport Minister Pascal Donoghue to press for additional funding.
Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Alan Kelly has now announced an additional allocation for the Premier County of €1.395 million for restoration and improvement grants for local and regional roads in Tipperary.
In a statement, the Portroe native said he'd received numerous calls from constituents, expressing their frustration with the condition of roads and requesting that the situation be dealt with urgently.
In previous years, each Town and Borough Council had a separate allocation which added up to a significant amount, however, due to the amalgamation of North and South Tipp and the abolition of Town and Borough Councils, this was lost.
