Funding announced for Thurles sports organisations

Grants announced for a number of sports clubs in Thurles have been welcomed by local Councillor John Kennedy.

The funding has been allocated under the Community, Sports and Cultural Grant Scheme.

Thurles Crokes Athletic Club, which has been in existence for almost 50 years, has been granted €78,000.

According to Councillor Kennedy this money will be used to develop facilities including the construction of a Clubhouse for Thurles Crokes which has more than 200 members.

A grant of €22,000 has been confirmed for Thurles Rugby Club towards the development of floodlighting for the main pitch.
