Fresh efforts to resolve nursing registration row.

Nursing Unions will meet their regulatory board later in an effort to resolve the ongoing fee dispute.

It's over the Nursing and Midwifery Board's decision to increase the annual retention fee by 50 per cent to €150.

Nurses must be registered with the NMBI in order to practice.

The issue has been ongoing for a number of months and the board says the increase is needed to ensure it can continue to fulfil its role as a statutory regulator.

General Secretary of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation Liam Doran says their members simply will not pay.
