The men were back in court in Cashel yesterday in relation to the incident at the home of Mark and Emma Corcoran and their three daughters near Killenaule last November.
The seven, who are all from Dublin, have now been charged with the false imprisonment of Mark Corcoran during the incident at Burnchurch as well as possession of a shotgun and a handgun for the purposes of committing a crime.
They have also been charged stealing a Subaru car in Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny on November 21st last – the night of the burglary – and with stealing the Corcoran family's Kia car.
The men range in age from 19 to 26 – all were in custody last night after those who had been granted bail last year were refused bail in relation to the new charges.
Giving evidence in court Detective Sergeant James White that when the new charges were put to the accused none of them replied except Dean Byrne who said “Youse are trying to stitch me up” when the firearm charge was put to him.
Detective White also gave evidence of the allegations regarding the night of November 20/21st last when a gang of seven men left Dublin by convoy and broke into the Corcoran’s’ home.
Mark Corcoran was assaulted and suffered a broken nose and fractured eye socket while the gang also made threats before leaving with some money and jewellery, the state allege.
They were later arrested by gardaí in two vehicles, including the Corcoran’s’ family car.
The case has been adjourned to Cashel district court next Wednesday, March 19th.
