Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds will be laid to rest today

The former Fianna Fáil leader will be buried following a full state funeral at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Donnybrook at Shanganagh cemetery in Shankill in South Dublin.

Mass will be led by Fr Brian D'Arcy, with the archbishop of Dublin, Dr Diarmuid Martin, as one of the concelebrants – and the eulogy will be delivered by Mr Reynolds' son Philip.

President Michael D Higgins, and Taoiseach Enda Kenny are due to attend the service, as are several former Taoisigh and figures from across the political divide.

Former cabinet colleague and close friend Michael Smith Senior from Roscrea says he was part of a very close family and his loss will be keenly felt.
