Joseph Treacy sought compensation in relation to three separate incidents between 2004 and 2007.
The High Court heard that Mr Treacy – who was stationed at Cashel Garda Station – suffered excruciating pain after being repeatedly kicked in the groin by the man he was trying to arrest.
Garda Treacy was off work for more than a year following the incident which happened in November 2007.
The day before the kicking incident Joseph Treacy had blood and saliva spat in his face as he and a colleague were trying to arrest another man involved in a scuffle in Cahir.
He also claimed for injuries suffered when he was kicked and punched in his face and body in 2004.
The State said Treacy's injuries had been exacerbated by a pre-existing degenerative condition and also claimed he had retired on a purely voluntary basis once he had reached 30 years of service.
Mr Justice Bernard Barton awarded Joseph Treacy €60,000 in damages for his injuries and €19,822 regarding his fees and expenses.
