Former Tipp TD awarded honorary doctorate

A former Tipperary TD has been recognised at the annual Honorary Conferring Ceremony of the National University of Ireland

Martin Mansergh, former Politician and Historian, was awarded an honorary degree for his contribution to Irish public life and for his public service.

As a member of the Fianna Fail Party, Dr Mansergh was elected a Senator in 2002, before becoming a TD for the Tipperary South constituency, where he served from 2007 until 2011.

The ceremony took place at Royal College of Physicians this week.
