Former Band Of Ireland worker jailed

A former Bank of Ireland staff member has been jailed for one year for stealing €144,000 from the bank between 2004 and 2012.

Alice Warnock from Rathbeale Court in Swords, Co. Dublin was arrested following an internal investigation in May 2012.

She has since paid the money back but Judge Melanie Greally said a crime like this by a person in her position must be marked by a custodial sentence.

Before jailing her for twelve months, Judge Greally also noted the 55-year-old had stolen from her employer to enhance her own personal lifestyle.
