Household rubbish being dumped on the outskirts of Nenagh is becoming a major issue.

There have been four separate incidents of fly tipping on the Old Birr road about a mile from the town in the last 10 days.

There are now calls for the County Council to take action to prevent this happening.

Local Councillor Seamie Morris says its proximity to Nenagh makes it easy for people to indiscriminately dump rubbish.

However he points out that much of this was cardboard and paper which could have been brought to the recycling centre on the Limerick Road in Nenagh.
