The body is carrying out an investigation into the incident on the Drumcamoge River earlier this week in association with Tipperary and Limerick County Councils.
The fish kill – which covered a 3.5 kilometre stretch of prime nursery between Ballycahill Bridge and Knocklong – has been attributed to agricultural effluent.

Inland Fisheries Ireland senior environment officer Michael Fitzsimons says the pollution has decimated the fish population on the river with nearly 4,400 fish killed
He says it will take years for fish stocks on the river to recover.
