The Fire Chief is being called on to ensure the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick is safe.

The issue was raised at this months meeting of the Nenagh Municipal District during a debate on overcrowding at the hospital which serves North Tipp.

A new state of the art ED opened at UHL last May – it’s three times the size of the old unit.

However Nenagh based Independent Councillor Seamie Morris says it’s not fit for purpose and wants the Limerick Fire Chief to step in.
