Female pedestrian killed in Thurles crash

Gardai are investigating a fatal crash in Thurles.

A female pedestrian died after being struck by a truck in the town centre shortly before midday.

It happened at the junction of Slievenamon Road and Liberty Square and several units of the local fire brigade along with ambulance crew and gardai attended the incident.

The victim, believed to be from Roscrea, was pronounced dead at the scene which remains closed to traffic for a number of hours to allow for a garda technical examination

It's the second fatal crash in Tipperary since the start of the year after father of 2 John Gaughan died in a collision at Thomastown on the 3rd of January.
