Fears for future of rural rail links in North Tipp

The possible shutdown of some of the country's rail links- which could hit North Tipp has been branded as another devastating attack on rural communities

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar says there are no plans to curb current services but admitted that if the budget couldn't be balanced then it would be something that may have to be looked at.

Minister Varadkar says their no justification for additional funding for the railways, some of which are serious underperforming in terms of passenger numbers.

However Ireland South Euro Election Candidate and Waterford native Kieran Hartley says it could prove far more costly to cut train services.
