Nenagh General Hospital could lose its Coronary Care Unit due to HSE cutbacks.

That's according to Deputy Michael Lowry who has today criticised North Tipperary's Government Deputies for failing to protect services in Nenagh General.

Deputy Lowry says this essentially means that any coronary related referrals from General Practitioners will now be directed to Limerick and there will be no coronary care available in Nenagh.

He points out that €4 million was secured by him for the hospital during the term of the last Government – Michael Lowry says the only area of the hospital that required care and protection was the Coronary Care Unit.

Michael Lowry says Minister Kelly and Deputy Coonan must fight for the protection of the local hospital and the funds required to retain services there.
