The man in his early 80's was fatally injured when his car struck a ditch at Taylors Cross between Banagher and Birr.
The single vehicle crash happened at around 9.30 this morning – he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road is closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
