The demonstration comes ahead of a liquidators meeting next week – at which the department of social welfare's expected to look for a seat on the creditors' Committee of Inspection.

The Department's Social Insurance Fund is expected to pay up to €2.5 million in statutory redundancy payments to former employees.

460 workers were left in limbo after the sale of Clery's to Natrium in June.

Today's protest is set to begin at lunchtime.
