Last week it was reported that a deal had been struck to spend 16 billion of UK taxpayer's money on the construction of the facility at Hinkley Point in southwest England.
Reuters reports that the plans have met with opposition at EU level.

A decision is expected to be made by the European Commission on whether to approve the deal – which could open the door to further nuclear expansion across Europe.
