The Taoiseach will join EU heads of state at today's special meeting of the European Council, to discuss the migratory crisis in the Mediterranean region.
It's believed that at least 800 people died in the migrant boat that capsized off the coast of Libya on Sunday – the worst such incident ever in the Mediterranean.
Meanwhile, more than 500 rescued people were brought ashore by Italian coastguard's yesterday morning.
Heads of State will discuss what the EU and member states can do to alleviate the situation.
