A Tipperary company is included in the Environmental Protection Agency’s list of national priority sites.
Tipperary Co-Op – which recently merged with Arrabawn to form Arrabawn Tipperary Co-operative Society – is among three on the list.
It allows the EPA to identify which industrial and waste-licensed sites should be prioritised for enforcement based on their environmental performance.
It is used to target the EPA’s enforcement effort at the poorest performing sites to drive improvements in environmental compliance. The list is published on a quarterly basis.
The issues at Tipperary Co-Op relate to discharges to water and infrastructure
Programme Manager at the EPA Office of Environmental Enforcement, Pamela McDonnell, says they focus on certain sites where they found problems in the past.
