Bord na Mona proposes to carry out the works this year under the Peatlands Climate Action Scheme.
Templetuohy Bog is Located around 10 kilometres east of Templemore,
It’s part of the scheme of enhanced peatland decommissioning and rehabilitation on 33,000 hectares in over 80 Bord na Mona bogs.
Templetuohy is included in the Littleton Bog Group licence under which a plan must be prepared for permanent rehabilitation of the bog lands.
The key target will be to bring water levels close to the peat surface to re-wet it and accelerate the development of naturally functioning peatland habitats.
The Draft Rehabilitation Plan sets out the planned goals & outcomes and proposed rehabilitation actions.
Part of the process includes consultation with stakeholders and affected parties – draft plans can be viewed on the Peatlands Climate Action Scheme website.
Submissions must be made before July 4th.
