End of an era for local democracy in Tipperary

The council has served the people of the town for 115 years since it was established in 1899.

It's the last of Tipperary’s seven urban councils to hold its final meeting before they are dissolved to make way for the new unified Tipperary County Council.

Mayor of Tipp town Anna Touhy Halligan says it's an emotional time for all concerned as she feels the council has served the town and its people well down through the years.
