End of an era for Knocklofty House

The interior contents of Knocklofty House Hotel – the former residence of Lord and Lady Donoghmore – go under the hammer.

The estate dates back to the 17th century when Cromwell gifted the lands to a member of his New Model Army after the surender of Clonmel. In recent years it's operated as a house hotel.

Today's auction takes place at Knocklofty at 2 pm but the house is open to the public from 10 am and Brian from Cloverhill Auctioneers is encouraging people to come along and have a look.

And you can hear more about the auction and the history of Knocklofty House on TIpp Today with Fran Curry this week.
