The Employment Appeal Tribunal also ordered The Ballykisteen Hotel and Golf resort to pay the employee Thomas O'Halloran almost 5 thousand euro in lost earnings.
The hearing which was held in Thurles in November was told that Mr O'Halloran had worked at the hotel at Limerick Junction for seven years before being sacked on March 9, 2013, for “gross misconduct”.
He told the EAT that while on duty he noticed a surveillance camera had been installed and discussed it with his deputy manager.
Several days later he was called to a meeting where it was alleged the restaurant manager purposefully sought to locate and interfere with the CCTV system which he denied.
However management offered him the option of resigning or being fired and when he refused to go voluntarily he was handed a pre- prepared letter terminating his employment.
In its determination released last month The Appeals Tribunal found it was a clear case of unfair dismissal, that Ballykisteen Hotel failed on almost every conceivable ground and showed a complete lack of respect for their employee.
