North Tipperary Councillors are calling for emergency works to be carried out on the main street in Borrisokane immediately.
The busy route, which forms part of the N52, has fallen into serious disrepair in recent years.
It falls under the remit of the TII or Transport Infrastructure Ireland and major upgrade works are in the pipeline for later this year.
However local Independent Cllr Joe Hannigan says something has to be done in the interim by the council itself.
