The Clonmel based South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association responded to their 49th and 50th call outs for 2024 yesterday.
Their first tasking on Sunday was to a group of walkers who were lost on the Galtees and unsure how to make their way back to their car.
The alarm was raised shortly after 1pm. Two other walkers on the hill came across the group and guided them down off Galtee Beag and put them into a storm shelter until the SEMRA members arrived.
The second call came from the Gardaí at around 6.15pm for a walker lost in the Nire Valley. They had become disoriented in the dark and were unsure how to get back to their car.
The Search and Rescue Dog Association also responded to the call out – the walker was located with all members off the hill at 7.30pm.
SEMRA – which is a voluntary group – came to the aid of a walker who had fallen on the Knockmealdowns on Saturday.
