Fianna Fail’s Michael Smith has spoken to Tipp FM News for the first time about his disappointment on missing out on a Dáil seat in the General Election.

The Roscrea Councillor was one of two candidates run by the party in Tipperary North and was expected to capitalise on Jackie Cahill’s vote due to his 20 years of service on Tipperary County Council and a higher profile due to his father’s career as a local TD and Minister.

Councillor Smith says it was tough to take the result after putting a lot of hard work into his campaign.
