Despite some heated exchanges during the election campaign two Tipperary South candidates say it’s important to put any disagreements behind them and focus on what’s best for the constituency.
Independent Mattie McGrath and Fine Gael’s Michael Murphy look set to take the first two seats.
The pair had some heated exchanges in the run up to polling day but both are now firmly focused on working for Tipperary in Leinster House.
Mattie McGrath told Tipp FM that what happened during the campaign will now be put behind them.
“Our duty is to work for South Tipperary and work for all of the people so I look forward to working with Michael (Murphy) and whoever the 3rd seat is. In elections things get said and done but when we go back to Dublin we wear the Blue & Gold of Tipperary.”
Michael Murphy is also of the view that from here on Tipp comes first.
“There’s been a bit of Championship hurling between myself and Deputy McGrath and indeed the other candidates. That’s just part and parcel of any election. I have great regard for Deputy McGrath – I heard his interview earlier on and he was the first to say now its about putting on the Blue & Gold of Tipperary.”
