The battle between the Fianna Fáil candidates is still swinging in favour of Ryan O’Meara on 5,913 compared to Michael Smith’s 5,112.

Phyll Bugler of Fine Gael currently stands at 4,614 ahead of Independent Jim Ryan on 4,283.

Iva Pocock of the Green Party has been eliminated with her votes now being distributed – it’s expected she will be very transfer friendly to Ryan O’Meara given their Cloughjordan base.

Michael Lowry of course was elected with a surplus of more than 1,000 votes on the first count.
