It follows the 9th count which was the distribution of Phyll Bugler’s 5,000 votes after she was eliminated.

This saw the two lowest candidates separated by just 7 votes. Roscrea based Michael Smith of Fianna Fáil was on 6,369 votes compared to the 6,362 of Thurles based Independent Jim Ryan.

A recheck of those transfers saw the lead cut to 1 with another check stretching that to 2.

Returning Officer James Seymour has now confirmed a full recount starting at 11 o’clock on Monday morning.

Independent Michael Lowry has been elected in Tipp North while Labour’s Alan Kelly set to take the second of the three on offer while Fianna Fáil’s Ryan O’Meara currently heading the chase for the third.

Tipperary South is complete with Independents Mattie McGrath and Seamus Healy along with Fine Gael’s Michael Murphy.
