A female pedestrian – aged in her 80's – was struck by a van on the N3 at Lisgrea near Virginia at around a quarter past seven.
She was rushed to Cavan General Hospital where she passed away.

The road is expected to remain closed for a number of hours – to allow for a forensic examination of the scene.
