Tipp students march on Dublin over DEIS exclusion

Pupils and teachers from a number of Tipperary schools are to protest at the Department of Education in Dublin this afternoon.

A delegation of over 140 pupils from the five Primary Schools in Tipp Town along with their principals, teachers and parents will highlight their exclusion from the DEIS scheme.

The scheme – which aims to address educational disadvantage – was initially introduced in 2005.

It was reviewed this year but none of the primary schools in Tipp town were included.

Louise Tobin is Principal of St Josephs primary school in Tipp Town.
