School admission policy still an issue

The government’s facing fresh calls to take action against the so-called ‘baptism barrier’ in schools.

The call comes from Labour, a year after the Dail passed a bill which would stop schools discriminating on the basis of religion.

Separate government legislation on school admissions is due before the Oireachtas education committee this afternoon.

Labour’s Joan Burton says Richard Bruton needs to stop dithering and make an immediate move.
