150 students with complex special needs attend the school which is in dire need of extra classrooms.
Four modular classrooms were delivered last year to cater for their immediate needs.
Fine Gael TD Michael Murphy sought an update from Education Minister Helen McEntee in the Dáil this morning on the current situation.
“This centre of excellence has been waiting since 2015 to proceed to design and planning stage. The current situation is having enormous implications on the 150 students with complex special needs who attend this school.”
Minister McEntee complimented Deputy Murphy and Cashel Councillor Declan Burgess for their efforts in lobbying for Scoil Aonghusa.
She said progress has been made.
“Following analysis by my department and engaging with the school authority I’m pleased to confirm that the accommodation brief for the 14 remaining classrooms and associated ancillary accommodation is being issued to the school authority for its approval.”
