Two early learning and childcare facilities in Tipperary have been included in funding under the Building Blocks Extension Scheme.
A total of 49 community and privately operated services have been shortlisted in a move which will deliver 1,500 additional places nationally.
Nenagh Childcare Centre is to get almost half a million in capital funding
Tipperary North TD Ryan O’Meara says the investment will create a number of much needed additional spaces.
“The Minister for Children Norma Foley announced this funding under the Building Blocks Extension grant scheme which is a key initiative from the Department of Children aimed at supporting capital investment in our childcare facilities.
“€492,595 is being provided and this will allow for a significant extension to the existing centre in Nenagh delivering 27 additional childcare places for families in the area.”
Happy Days Creche in Ballyporeen has been allocated over €117,000.
Tipp South Deputy Michael Murphy says the funding will be put to good use with 17 new places.
“More than €25 million in order to deliver an additional 1,500 early learning and childcare places across the country.
“In particular I’m delighted to see funding of €117,000 for Happy Days Creche in Ballyporeen. The staff there provide such a fantastic service to so many children in the area and with this funding more places will be available.
“It’s expected that the projects that receive funding will begin in the coming months with many of the additional places coming on stream towards the end of this year.”
