Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan from Nenagh were among the finalists taking part in the Walton‘s Music for School’s competition in association with Lyric FM.
This year’s theme was The Key of Life where schools are free to interpret and present a composition reflecting the theme.
The Gaelscoil’s entry used Cindi Lauper’s True Colours and REM’s Shiny Happy People which they translated into Irish
Teacher Orla McNamara says the school was thrilled with their success.
“Schools from all over the country sent in entries responding to the theme this year – The Key of Life.
“Six Primary Schools and six Secondary Schools were chosen to participate in the Grand Final.
“The adjudicators were Aideen Gormley from Lyric FM and singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan.”
Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan won €2,000 to spend on musical equipment for the school.
