New TUI President says we’re losing teachers due to poor pay

The Tipperary based President of the Teachers Union of Ireland has called for pay equality to attract younger people back to Ireland.

Seamus Lahart, who teaches in Coláiste Dún Iascaigh in Cahir, says that many are going abroad to save money.

Teachers who’ve qualified since 2011 are paid several thousand less than their older counterparts – despite doing the same job.

Mr Lahart says everyone knows someone who’s gone to the UAE in search of better wages.
