Schools in Tipperary are to benefit from funding announced by Education Minister Helen McEntee.
€1.2 million is to be spent on minor building works while €1.3 million has been allocated for ICT funding.
It’s part of an overall investment of €65 million in schools right across the country.
Local Fine Gael Deputy Michael Murphy says both funding strands are key.
“Maintaining school buildings across Tipperary is so important both in promoting health & safety and also in providing a welcoming learning environment for all students.
“ICT funding of €1.3 million will ensure that Special, Primary and Post Primary schools can instil their students with the skills they need to reach their full potential in a rapidly changing society.”
Deputy Murphy says the local share of a €64 million national investment will give local schools a welcome boost.
“Technology presents a real opportunity in our schools and this funding will ensure that schools can embed ICT into their teaching, learning and assessments.
“Schools are at the heart of our communities right across Tipperary and this investment for primary and special education schools for minor works of €1.2 million and €1.3m for ICT equipment will ensure that Tipperary schools, and their students, continue to be supported.”
