The introduction of National Therapy Service for special schools will come as a relief to families across Tipperary according to a local TD.
Fine Gael Deputy Michael Murphy says the initiative will help vulnerable students reach their full potential and support the critical work of teachers and SNAs.
The Fine Gael representative outlines what will be provided by the service.
“The focus will initially be on introducing Speech & Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy into Special Education schools. Over time we will see the expansion of other services like for example physiotherapy.”
Deputy Murphy says providing some level of speech and language therapy and occupational therapy to each special school is essential to help students reach their full potential.
“The provision of these therapies in special schools will ensure that the most vulnerable children in Tipperary can access the services they need. This service will compliment the critical work of teachers and SNAs in supporting children with special needs.”
