Another year without sufficient school transport services in Tipperary is not good enough, according to a Cahir councillor.

Letters of refusal for the School Transport Scheme have put strain on parents, students and school staff in recent years as hundreds of families are unable to avail of a much needed transport service.

A review of the scheme, published in January, will bring fixes to common issues in the application process however the changes will only be piloted this September, and then introduced gradually from September 2025.

Independent Councillor Marin McGrath believes when there is a ‘simple fix’ available, there’s no point in waiting a full year to roll it out.
