The first pay-related jobseekers benefit payments are being rolled out from today.
The scheme – which will see workers who lose their job can now earn up to €450 per week depending on how much they earned and paid in PRSI – has been welcomed by local Fine Gael TD Michael Murphy.

The maximum rate – calculated at 60 percent of previous earnings – applies for the first three months before gradually reducing.
Michael Murphy says the new payment will provide a safety net for anyone losing their job.
