Dublin's local authorities spent over 4.5 million on emergency hotel rooms for families in the first six months of the year, and there are currently around 600 families with almost 1,300 children in emergency accommodation.

The modular homes range in size from around 46 metres squared to 80 metres – and can be built in weeks and assembled in hours.

Those in favour say it provides a faster solution than conventional housing, however there are concerns that prefabs are not a long term solution.
