There was a 10 per cent increase in the number of people passing through Irish airports last year.

Almost 33 million passengers passed through with 85 per cent of those travelling via Dublin.

Passenger numbers increased in all airports with the exception of Waterford, where there has been a loss of commercial services.

CSO figures showed London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester were the most popular routes for passengers passing through Dublin.
