An adopted Tipperary man and double Olympic gold medal winner is to be honoured in his hometown in Cork.
Dr Pat O'Callaghan, a native of Dromtarriffe near Kanturk, won Gold in the Hammer at the 1928 Amsterdam games and again at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.

Dr Pat passed away at his home in Clonmel in 1991 – he was made a freeman of the town in 1984 when he retired from his medical practice.
On Sunday next he will be remembered as part of the Discover Duhallow initiative with a Hammer Throwing competition.
