The Department of Education is to carry out fire audits of up to 25 schools built in the last 20 years.
It comes after safety breaches were discovered during inspections of 5 primary schools in Dublin, Wicklow and Westmeath

The schools in question were built under a rapid build scheme in 2008, which has prompted the Department to carry out the additional audits.
