Delayed farm payments causing difficulties in Tipperary

The on-going delay in the processing and issuing of AEOS payments owed to farmers has been criticised by Deputy Michael Lowry.

The North Tipp Independent T.D is critical of the Government saying the delay is causing huge problems for farmers and placing an additional financial strain on them.

In particular Michael Lowry claims there is a significant delay in the issuing of Agri-Environment Options Scheme payments for both 2010 and 2011.

He has questioned Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney on the delays which are mostly associated with digitisation.

Deputy Lowry says farmers need solid support from the Government and a smooth and timely process for the issuing of payments – he feels the current system and its inherent delays are simply not good enough.
